Purpose, character & achievement
The Senior Years at Huntingtower is a time of increasing independence, purpose and possibility. We approach Year 10 to 12 as a purposeful three-year journey, giving students the time, guidance and flexibility to shape pathways that reflect their strengths, interests and aspirations.
The final years of a Huntingtower education are more than academic achievement. Guided by our motto, Nosce Te Ipsum (Know Thy True Self), students are encouraged to explore who they are, what they value and how they can make a positive contribution to the world.
More Than An ATAR
At Huntingtower, academic success is not pursued in isolation. We believe students achieve their best results when they are encouraged to discover who they are, explore their interests and pursue learning that aligns with their strengths, passions and aspirations.
Through participation in co-curricular activities, leadership opportunities, service, sport, the arts and experiences beyond the classroom, students develop confidence, character and a deeper understanding of themselves. This self-knowledge enables them to make informed subject choices and pursue pathways that are both meaningful and motivating.
Supported by exceptional teachers, high expectations and personalised guidance, students are empowered to strive for excellence in ways that are authentic to them. The result is a culture where students are not defined by an ATAR, yet consistently achieve outstanding academic outcomes because they are engaged, purposeful and invested in their learning journey.
Exploration & Pathways
Year 10 at Huntingtower
Year 10 is an exciting transition year, where students begin to shape their future pathways while continuing to build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for success.
Key highlights of Year 10 include:
- Work experience to provide valuable insights into the world of work and potential career interests.
- Future Pathways, a program designed to equip them with the knowledge and capabilities needed for life beyond school.
- Contemporary learning experiences, such as the exploration of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, to develop critical thinking, ethical decision making and the adaptability required for an ever-changing world.
- Duke of Edinburgh's International Silver Award, further developing resilience, leadership, community service and a spirit of adventure.
Curriculum
The core curriculum at Year 10 prepares students for the VCE. Many students begin their VCE journey by studying a Unit 1 & 2 subject, allowing them to pursue their interests, experience senior school expectations and build confidence as they prepare for Years 11 and 12.
Year 10 Core Subjects

Year 10 Electives
Students are invited to choose up to 5 of the following semester electives. These change according to student preference but currently include:

Excellence with purpose
Year 11 & 12 Curriculum
In Year 11, students will typically study six subjects in Year 11. These may be all Unit 1 & 2 studies, or some students may apply to accelerate into a Unit 3 & 4 sequence (a maximum of one Unit 3 & 4 study).
In Year 12, students typically study five Unit 3 & 4 studies. If they have completed a Unit 3 & 4 study as part of their Year 11 course, some students may choose to study four Year 12 subjects in their final year.
Year 11 VCE Units 1 & 2
All students study English.
Students select five (5) VCE studies. There is the option to include a maximum of one (1) VCE Unit 3 & 4 subject

Futures Program
A distinctive feature of the senior years is the Futures program, which prepares students for an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world. Students explore topics including artificial intelligence, emerging industries, global universities, career pathways, financial literacy and life beyond school. Combined with a personalised pathway support, the program equips students with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their future.
Supported by dedicated teachers who know them well, students are challenged to strive for personal excellence while remaining grounded in the values of compassion, integrity and service. By the time they graduate, Huntingtower students are not only academically prepared but also equipped with the confidence, self-awareness and adaptability to thrive in an ever-changing world.
