Performing Arts
Every performance leads to self-discovery
Drama studies at Huntingtower offers a place where students build confidence and learn to express themselves with authenticity and creativity.
Through classroom learning and performance opportunities, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, collaborate with others and discover strengths they may never have realised they had. Whether taking to the spotlight or supporting a production behind the scenes, every student has the opportunity to contribute, grow and belong.
Learning Through Drama
Drama is woven throughout the curriculum, providing students with opportunities to imagine, create, perform and reflect at every stage of their learning journey.
Through improvisation, storytelling, movement and performance, students develop communication, collaboration and creative thinking skills while exploring ideas from different perspectives. As they grow, they are challenged to think critically, solve problems creatively and express themselves with confidence.
Drama nurtures qualities that extend well beyond the stage, including resilience, leadership, empathy and self-awareness.
Performance Opportunities
Every year, students have the opportunity to experience the excitement and camaraderie of live performance through a range of productions and events.
Junior School Production
Held every second year, the Junior School Production introduces younger students to the joy of theatre in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students discover the excitement of performing while developing confidence, creativity and a love of storytelling.
Senior School Production
Our annual Senior School Production brings together students from across the secondary years to create a memorable theatrical experience. Whether performing, assisting backstage or contributing to the production team, students develop teamwork, commitment and confidence while working towards a shared goal.
House Performing Arts Festival
The annual House Performing Arts Festival is a highlight of the Huntingtower senior school calendar. All students participate - whether it be on stage, behind the scenes or in the music pit - to compete for highly-prized House points. It is an opportunity for every student to celebrate their creativity, school spirit and teamwork while experiencing the energy of performing together.
"Drama gives every student the confidence to stand tall, express themselves and discover strengths they never knew they had."
Huntingtower would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
