At Huntingtower, we believe excellence is expressed in many ways. Our Scholarship Program recognises students who demonstrate outstanding ability, character and commitment, and who will contribute positively to our vibrant and values-driven community.
Scholarships at Huntingtower
Each year Huntingtower, in conjunction with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), holds scholarship exams for entry into Years 7, 9 and 10. Scholarships can be awarded to cover 25% to 50% of tuition fees.
A limited number of scholarships will be awarded in the areas of Academic, General Excellence or Music.
Scholarships are available to new and current students. Applicants must hold an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia at the time of application.
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility
Academic Scholarship candidates must be high achieving students who excel academically and who will also contribute to the school in many other areas.
Application

- Complete the ACER Online Registration Form to officially register. Please save this form to lodge with your Portfolio documentation.
- As soon as you have received the end of school report, email the electronic Scholarship Portfolio (requirements listed below) to: scholarships@huntingtower.vic.edu.au prior to the closing deadline. Please include your ACER candidate ID and candidate name in the subject of the email. No late applications will be accepted.
The 2027 Academic Scholarships are now closed. The 2028 Academic Scholarships will open Term 4 2026.
Review
Shortlisted applicants will be invited, together with their families, for an interview with the Principal or delegate.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of examination, portfolio review and interview. Scholarships are awarded at the sole discretion of the Principal.
GENERAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility
General Excellence Scholarship candidates must have achieved a high academic standard, plus excellence in at least two of the following areas:
- Sport
- Music
- Leadership
- Community service

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility
Please ensure that your child has documented evidence that they have attained the required level (according to the table below) of proficiency prior to audition.

Auditions are available for any orchestral ensemble instrument (Brass, Percussion, Strings, Woodwind). Students auditioning on Piano or Guitar as their primary instrument must also present a second instrument from the Brass, Percussion, String, or Woodwind family. Typically, students have had at least 18 months of experience on their second instrument, and they must present a short work on this instrument within the audition time limit.
Students auditioning on an orchestral instrument as their primary instrument may also choose to briefly demonstrate a second instrument but need to do so within the performance time limit. Instruments other than orchestral instruments will be considered at the discretion of the Director of Music.
Application
Please complete all steps below.
- Complete the ACER Online Registration Form to officially register. Please save this form to lodge with your Portfolio documentation.
- Video Audition Application. Please submit an instrumental performance video HERE. Videos should be 2-3 minutes long and prepared with or without an accompaniment. Applicants are encouraged to showcase their technical performance skills and demonstrate two contrasting works (one fast piece and one slow piece) of their choosing. Videos should be unedited, and applications are asked to perform for the camera as they would to a live audience.
- As soon as you have received the end of school report, email the electronic Scholarship Portfolio (requirements listed below) to: scholarships@huntingtower.vic.edu.au prior to the closing deadline. Please include your ACER candidate ID and candidate name in the subject of the email. No late applications will be accepted.
The 2027 Music Scholarships are now closed. The 2028 Music Scholarships will open Term 4 2026.
Review
The Director of Music will select candidates for live auditions based on the completed application form and video audition. Applicants who are not selected for a live audition will be notified by email.
All successful Music scholarship students will be expected to regularly participate in at least one Huntingtower instrumental ensemble and/or Choir. Candidates who aspire to include Music Performance in their VCE repertoire will be looked upon favourably.
2027 Scholarship Applications have closed
The 2028 Scholarship Application Dates:
- Applications Open: Term 4 2026 (date to be announced)
- Applications Close: Term 1 2027 (date to be announced)
- ACER Exam Date: Term 1 2027 at Huntingtower (date to be announced)
Portfolio Requirements
All (including current Huntingtower students) applicants are asked to provide an electronic Scholarship Portfolio.
Please include the following documents in the Scholarship Portfolio:
- Cover letter with a statement written by the student, explaining why they would like to be considered for the Scholarship and how they believe attending Huntingtower would impact their future and what they would bring to Huntingtower.
- A copy of the ACER online registration confirmation
- School Report – please provide the latest full year school report (Semester 1 and Semester 2)
- A copy of the latest NAPLAN results
- Copies of any certificates of achievement, Sporting ability/achievements, Music ability/achievements, Leadership achievements and Community Service. If you would like to include a reference from a teacher, principal, sporting organisation, church group, community service organisation, etc. (this is not essential), please feel free to do so.
- Current Huntingtower students are not required to provide written references from their teachers.
Interviews
Scholarship interview appointments will commence after the school receives the results from ACER in mid to late March.
All decisions relating to scholarships are final. Scholarship offers are strictly confidential and must not be shared or discussed beyond your immediate family. Individual results will not be shared with applicants.
