Every student can make a difference

At Huntingtower, leadership begins with character. Students are encouraged to lead with kindness, integrity and confidence, using their strengths to serve others and contribute meaningfully to school life.

Leadership at Huntingtower is grounded in the values of the School. Student leaders are expected to be inclusive, kind and respectful, to model high standards and to support others within the community.

Across the school, House and co-curricular life, students are given meaningful opportunities to communicate ideas, organise activities, mentor younger students and represent Huntingtower. Through these experiences, they develop confidence and initiative to demonstrate how positive leadership is expressed through service.

Understand different perspectives and ensure others feel heard. Identify opportunities and help organise events and experiences.

Make thoughtful decisions and model the school values. Mentor younger students and encourage participation to create an inclusive culture.

School Leadership

School Captains

Following a successful election campaign, our school captains represent the student body, liaise with the Principal, lead assemblies, coordinate the Prefect Council and represent the School at events.

School Prefects

Also elected, Prefects are positive role models that uphold Huntingtower values. They support assemblies, school events and the work of the Prefect Council while listening to the ideas from student representatives in Years 7-11.

House Leadership

House Captains

After an election campaign, House captains work with the Heads of House to motivate students, lead activities, coordinate meetings and help strengthen House culture.

House Leaders

Take responsibility for portfolios such as sport, performing arts, debating & public speaking, chess and music. They support House events and trainings.

Co-curricular Leadership

Sport Captains

Motivate teams, support training and competitions, promote school spirit and represent sport within the School.

Debating & Public Speaking

Mentor younger speakers, assist with training and promote confident communication.

Chess

Support interschool teams and training, mentor players and encourage participation in chess.

Music

Lead by example in ensembles, support rehearsals and performances and represent the School at music events.

Community Leadership

Sustainability Student Leaders

Empower students to respond to environmental challenges, lead the Student Sustainability Group and develop projects that build awareness and action.

Wellbeing Captains

Act as a link between students and staff, support wellbeing initiatives and help enhance the school community.
