Debating & Public Speaking

Confidence to Voice

Every student has a voice. And in a rapidly changing and unpredictable world, it has never been more important to find that voice.

Huntingtower’s Debating and Public Speaking program trains students in the value of their voice: to explore problems, to find solutions, and to bring people to your side.

Driven by many different passions, our students form a broad, enthusiastic and supportive cohort. Our program will extend their thinking and find their courage. Whether it’s building the confidence to express themselves and challenge the views of their peers, or stepping up to challenge themselves on a national or world stage, we believe in giving every student the opportunity to speak.

Opportunities to Speak, Debate and Lead

Huntingtower prides itself on offering students the opportunity to participate in a wide range of external and internal debating and public speaking events. Some of the events we have participated in are as follows.

Mentoring is at the Heart of the Program

Mentoring rests at the heart of Debating and Public Speaking program at Huntingtower. Students have the opportunity to attend weekly training sessions, run by both staff and returning Huntingtower Alumni who have excelled in the field.

Younger debaters and public speakers also have the chance to be mentored by our older students and participate in debates adjudicated by our trained senior debaters. Senior students have their skills extended by receiving expert training from the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) to be trained as adjudicators.
