Huntingtower’s First Diwali Festival of Lights

Thursday 5 November | 5.00 pm–7.00 pm
Free entry | All welcome

Join the Huntingtower community for our first Diwali Festival of Lights! Students, families and friends from Prep to Year 12 are invited to an evening of colour, music, food and festivities.

Celebrating the triumph of light over darkness, goodness over evil and knowledge over ignorance, Diwali offers a wonderful opportunity to come together, explore cultural traditions and celebrate our diverse community.

Enjoy cultural performances, Bollywood dancing and musical items featuring students, past students and performers from our wider community—with opportunities to join in the dancing!

There will be plenty for families to discover, including:

  • Free henna painting
  • The traditional Indian board game Carrom
  • A community light installation to help create
  • Colourful mandala artwork to make and take home
  • Activities exploring the traditions and significance of Diwali

Enjoy traditional Indian desserts, make your own pani puri at Babaji’s Kerala Kitchen, and purchase delicious food and drinks, including mango lassi, samosas, curries and rice dishes.

Brought to life by our enthusiastic student organising committee, this inaugural celebration welcomes everyone, whether Diwali is a treasured family tradition or something you are discovering for the first time. Students, families and friends are encouraged to wear traditional cultural or national dress to add to the colour of the evening.

Many activities will be free thanks to the generous support of Mount Waverley Orthodontics and Mercedes-Benz Waverley.

Come for the whole evening or simply drop in to experience the colour and joy of Diwali!
