On Friday 20 May, Huntingtower held its first ever House Performing Arts Carnival (formerly House Music). Congratulations to the winners Rayner!
Each house had 20 minutes to show off their ‘Disney’ themed choral, orchestral, dance and theatre performances - with the focus being on creative freedom from our students.
Requirements included a full House choir song, instrumental component and showing off the signature prop (toy chicken) somewhere in the performance. Each House also opened and closed with the same lines: “You’ll never believe what just happened!” and “All I can say is, my bad.” Not only was it amazing to hear music from popular Disney movies like Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Tangled and many more, but we loved seeing the energy and creative joy from every student, as well as their encouragement for the other performing Houses.
Many hours of hard work and rehearsals went into making House Performing Arts possible. Huge thanks goes to the students, house leaders and staff who made the entire event a success. It was incredible to see the school come together celebrating the arts and it was a brilliant demonstration of our talented students and school spirit.
We were also grateful to have four professional adjudicators on the day scoring the performances (thank you to Jenny Gillan, Robert Green, Georgina Salanitri and Anna Dowling), and they certainly had the hardest job since it was such an impressive and competitive carnival!
Final results: 1st Rayner, 2nd Mather, 3rd Bruce, 4th Warrell
